TIMESHARE POINTS
About timeshare points.
Timeshare points are an increasingly popular alternative to the traditional fixed-week timeshare. Instead of owning the right to occupy a predetermined size unit at a particular resort, members of points-based timeshare clubs own a set number of annually allocated points . These points can then be used to book holidays at different resorts, in different room sizes, and at different periods of the year. Overall, the points are designed to provide a maximum flexibility.
How do points work?
Some points clubs may operate differently and have their own unique benefits, pros and cons. However, in general, points clubs allow their members to “spend,” “save,” or “borrow” their annual allocated points.
So, if a points holder had an annual allocation of 100,000 points, he could use 40,000 points to book one week in Florida in a 2-bedroom apartment and another 30,000 points to book one week in Italy in a 1-bedroom apartment. The point holder has actually "spent" 70,000 points and can "save" the remaining 30,000 points to spend on next year's vacation.
The number of points per week of holiday depends on a size of the unit (the number of bedrooms), the quality of the resort and the time of year. You may also find that some areas of the world offer high-quality accommodations for less amount of points as the cost of holiday accommodation in this part of the world will undoubtedly be a factor when calculating the cost of specific resorts.

Not all points are equal!
If you are thinking about buying timeshare points, you may well find that some products talk about packages of 50,000 or 100,000 points, while others may be 50 or 1,000. If the points are from different clubs, then it is likely that 50 points can have the same value as 50,000 points at another club. It is important that you have enough points to achieve the type of holiday you want, and not an excessive amount.
